Mytilene
Mytilene is a town that has been
variously affected by different conquerors and the results of these
conquests can be easily seen till today. Neoclassicismic
buildings, glorious churches, mosques and modern construction are
combined in harmony in this town.
Inside the town, is located the
pictorial market where the visitor can walk, the archeological museum,
the Byzantine's history museum and the castle. In the outskirts you can
reach the 'Theofilos, the painter' museum, such as the 'Teriade'
museum-library. Just 10 to 20 km far from
the town, is the Moria's classical water supply reservoir and the
healing baths in Therma.
A well organized beach of the
'Greek Tourist Organization' is located under the liberty statue, inside
the town, while in a distance of 15km there is the Charamida
beach and the fascinating bay of Ag. Ermogenis (St. Ermogenis).
Life in town is intensive not only
during summertime, but also in winter. Cafeterias, bars and clubs,
cinema and theatre scenes, restaurants, taverns and district areas will
enrich and make your stay a pleasant, relaxed and luxurious experience.
