The Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest

The Museum was founded in 1994 in beautiful Sigri, the westernmost point on the island and centre of the protected region of the Petrified Forest. On display in the Museum are important fossils from the Petrified Forest, including tree trunks, branches, roots, fruit and leaves, all of which were created some 20 million years ago when volcanic material settled on the forest that then covered the area.
